Reaching Peru Patients Via Telehealth
Telehealth in Peru, initiated!
GHM, with the help of Trinity Health TIS, launched a telehealth program between St. Francis Family Practice in Wilmington Delaware, and the Diocese of Chulucanas Peru. Three doctors at St. Francis are Peru veteran team members who are familiar with the Chulucanas region and programs and have traveled to Chulucanas prior.
In Peru, a medical resident living in Chulucanas, as well as other community health workers, are assisting patients living with chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, as they see the physicians at St. Francis via video. These in-country partners and health workers provide any necessary follow-up care in a mutually collaborative environment with the GHM volunteers.
GHM has sent medicines as well as funding to ensure that patients have the care that they need. The clinic takes place every other Thursday morning as scheduled by our in-country partners.
