Volunteer FAQ

If you can count to 30, you can help! Volunteers serve in various roles and everyone is welcome to apply.

Global Health Volunteers prides itself on being a responsible short-term medical mission organization. We travel only at the invitation of our in-country partners to assist them in their work and have long-standing relationships with these partners dating back decades. We make patient and staff education a priority while working alongside in-country staff and fostering sustainability. Our ultimate goal in our missions is to build self-sustainability so that we are not needed in those locations moving forward.

Yes. As of 2021, GHV will require all participants to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19. In addition to the Covid vaccine, we highly recommend having your Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus Booster up to date.

Volunteers are asked to cover the cost of their flights, as well as program costs which range from $800 to $1000 per mission. The program costs cover housing, food, ground transportation, security, travel insurance, and a contribution toward the cost of medical services provided to our patients, including follow-up care. At orientation, we discuss the variety of ways that volunteers fundraise to cover these costs.
