Global Health Volunteers in Haiti

Each fall since 2009 Global Health Volunteers sends a medical team to Gros Morne, in the Artibonite Region in Northwest Haiti. A team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, interpreters and other clinicians traveled to Haiti on November 11 to 20, 2016 and provided medical care and education to over 660 children and adults. The Gros Morne region is remote and requires a lot of perseverance and planning to mobilize the medical team and supplies to Port-au-Prince, the capital, and then continue the journey 5-6 hours to reach Gros Morne, 100 miles north. From Gros Morne the team and supplies travels even further on the back of pick-up trucks over rough, unpaved roads to reach communities with little or no access to medical care.
