On March 22, 2019, a team of 13 physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists and interpreters journeyed to Esquipulas, Guatemala. During the two-week medical mission, 997 women, children and men received primary medical care and health education information. For over 20 years, Global Health Volunteers has been committed to being a transforming healing presence in the Esquipulas community and each year the area residents look forward to seeing us. Our medical clinics had long lines each day and we visited the area schools to check on the students. A long time team member reflects on how our continued support helps the people of Guatemala:
"The smiles, hugs, handshakes and expressions of thankfulness from members of the communities we touch say it all. In the ten year span that I have participated in mission trips to Guatemala I see real transformations in the people and communities GHV touches."
